CBD and Pets: What Are Vets Saying?

While there are veterinarians who are speaking out on the possibilities and promise CBD holds for pet health, the majority of veterinarians are taking a ‘wait and see’ approach until more clinical studies become available.

We couldn’t agree more. That’s why Canopy Animal Health is not only conducting research alongside veterinarians and scientists, we’re working with the veterinary community at large to further the education on the safety and efficacy of CBD.

As new research results are available, and more clarity is given by state veterinary boards, more and more veterinarians may be able to talk to you about CBD for your pet, perhaps even to the point of being able to prescribe or recommend CBD products.

It’s all about the health of your pet.

Like you, your veterinarian wants the best possible life for your companion. But, while many veterinarians are very interested in clinical research on CBD, they’re reluctant to prescribe and sometimes even discuss the issue with their clients because of prohibitive regulations that vary from state to state.

So, what does that mean when it comes to CBD and your pet? We strongly suggest you follow the lead of the veterinary community and wait until the research is in. Wait until there are products on the shelf that can prove their safety, guarantee their contents, and provide accurate dosage information.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start educating yourself about CBD and, more importantly, talking to your veterinarian. For more information on how to do just that, visit How to Discuss CBD With Your Veterinarian.
